If your stay in our municipality is going to be several days, you can take the directions designed for the proposal of a weekend getaway in Zas, and if you prefer, adapt it to other days of the week. To this offer we advise you to add the visit to Pico de Meda and the surroundings of O Rabiñoso.
The Pico de Meda, with its 566 meters high, is the highest point of the town. From its top, on clear days, you will be able to observe Monte Pindo (Carnota) or the Atlantic, from Fisterra to Arteixo, and enjoy the panoramas of the Soneira Valley. There, you will see animals in the wild: equines and bovids, birds of prey and small mammals (rabbits, foxes). At the foot of the Pico de Meda the Rio Grande rises, which flows through the Zaense lands until it flows into the estuary of Camariñas. To access the Pico de Meda you will have to take the local road to the parish of Gándara.

On the way back, on the way down, about two kilometers, we suggest you make a stop at the place of O Rabiñoso, a natural space that transmits tranquility and tranquility, an authentic riparian forest. Its river serves as a border between two villages (Vilarramil and Moucos), between two parishes (Cuns and Gándara), between two municipalities (Coristanco and Zas) and between two regions (Bergantiños and Soneira). In its surroundings you can find two mills in the area of Zas and three in the area of Coristanco, all in a poor state of conservation, unfortunately.
Zas is part of the region of Soneira, along with Vimianzo and Camariñas, places that you will have to reserve a few days to visit. The same happens with other enclaves of the Costa da Morte: Muxía, Fisterra, Corcubión, Cee,…
Our municipality is located in a geographical point almost equidistant from the city of A Coruña (just over 60 km.) and Santiago de Compostela (approximately 50 km), which makes it a perfect enclave in the triangle A Coruña – Santiago – Costa da Morte.
