With an elongated rectangular plan, this palace has a lateral extension in the form of a low body that breaks its original symmetry. It has a glazed gallery and a balcony that add architectural appeal. On its façade there is a coat of arms with the arms of families such as the Figueroa, Leis and Caamaño, testimony to the importance of these lineages in local history.
Domingo Fontán and the Pazo de Follente
Domingo Fontán, known for being the author of the first Geometric Map of Galicia, maintained a close relationship with the Pazo de Follente. Fontán’s relatives resided in the Pazo de Follente, which made the illustrious mathematician and engineer visit this enclave frequently. In addition to being a family meeting space, the palace became a place for study, reflection and work, providing the advances in the complex measurements and calculations that shaped his Geometric Chart.
The presence of Fontán in Follente is part of the historical memory of the place and adds value to its heritage, strengthening the link between the pazo and one of the most prominent figures in Galician science and cartography.
