The association AMIGOS DO LIÑO, at the provincial level, and based in our municipality, has been developing since 1993 a great work of recovery of the artisanal process that our ancestors carried out to obtain the precious fiber. From tradition, the tools that were used in each of the phases of the cultivation and spinning of linen have been recovered.

Phases:

  • Sowing in April
  • The collection in July
  • The lagado and dried
  • The Tascado and the Espadelado
  • The tracked
  • The yarn
  • The washing of the thread
  • The fabric

At the end of the spinning phase, a community meal was held as a thank you to all the women who spin during the long winter, followed by a dance that the spinners themselves organized and about which there is a rich folklore that came to be forbidden by the church. Currently and recovered by the association AMIGOS DO LIÑO this “Comida da Fía” is held in the month of April as a renowned cultural event that brings together entities from the economic, socio-cultural world of Galicia and the general public of different origins.

We can see instruments recovered and used in the manufacture of linen such as looms, spindles … and a varied collection of textile and textile garments in:
