The Baio – Pedra Vixía trail, about five kilometers, starts in the center of Baio and takes us first to A Carballeira, a natural space full of charm where the oaks have acquired twisted shapes that give it a mysterious air. From here we start a route that borders the Rio Grande along old fishermen’s paths.
The itinerary offers us the possibility of discovering small mills, one of which is still in operation, as well as ancient infrastructures linked to the agricultural and artisanal life of the region. The sound of water accompanies you at all times, creating a relaxing environment that is perfect for disconnecting.
The final stretch takes us to the recreational area of Pedra Vixía, located in the place where there was an old sawmill. Here you can see the remains of the dolmen of Pedra Vixía, a megalithic construction that, although deteriorated, retains its historical value.
It is an ideal route for a short walk, of medium difficulty, which combines nature, ethnography and archaeology in the same route, being one of the most popular among locals and visitors.
