Máis información sobre Pazo As Edreiras

The Pazo das Edreiras was born around a primitive tower to which a rectangular building was added, forming a harmonious ensemble of great architectural interest. Its stone staircase leads to a wide staircase that runs along the main façade, open to the south to take advantage of natural light.

The Baroque characteristics of the building point to the eighteenth century, and in it confluence noble lineages such as the Bermúdez and the Leis. It is a clear example of the stately rural architecture of Galicia.

Sign of Not Visitable

The Pazo das Edreiras is an elegant stately building linked to the Bermúdez and Leis families, although the coats of arms that are preserved on its north wall reveal the influence of more powerful lineages such as the Moscoso, the Castro or the Mariño, figures of great relevance in Galician history. Its L-shaped plan is completed at the western end with the chapel of the Virgin of the Rosary, a religious space that reinforces the spiritual and symbolic character of the ensemble.

One of the most beautiful elements is its stone staircase, which connects the garden with the large solaina, an outdoor gallery that runs along the main façade and offers privileged views of the surroundings. The noble scene is completed with a traditional granary, a dovecote and an alignment of cypresses that accompany the stately print. Near the palace there are still the old houses of the housekeepers, which recall the functioning of the old farms associated with these noble properties.

The palace is located about 4 kilometers from the municipal center of Zas. To get there, you have to take the road that leads to the place of Santo Adrián de Castro. Once there, turn slightly right in the direction of Berbia. About a kilometre away you will find a detour to the left that leads directly to the place of As Edreiras. Continuing along the road to the end, on the right, stands the main entrance to the palace, which surprises with its architectural sobriety and the harmony of its rural environment.
