In the heart of the place there is an artificial lagoon, a vestige of an old mining operation. Tradition has it that the Romans worked in these lands taking advantage of the richness of the subsoil, something that fits with their documented presence in other nearby areas such as Brandomil. Centuries later, in the nineteenth century, an English company attempted to recover this legacy, hoping to find gold that might have been forgotten by the ancient colonizers.
The current landscape, marked by water and silence, hides an intense history of work and ambition. The Pozo de Limideiro is today a space full of mystery, where nature and historical memory go hand in hand, offering the visitor the opportunity to discover a lesser-known but fascinating chapter of the Costa da Morte.
